What happens in a session?

Therapy

Initial Consultation

Prior to booking your first session, you will receive a discovery call to briefly discuss your issue and determine if this therapy is suitable for you. You will also be asked to complete a client intake form at the point of booking, that provides some relevant information, allowing us more time in the session.

The main focus of the consultation is to establish the core of the presenting issue through our discussions. Once we have established a point/points of focus, we can discuss which NLP or Hypnosis techniques may benefit you. You will be informed  along the whole process and have the opportunity to ask any questions. Collaboration is key to success!

For the Hypnosis itself, you will be asked to get comfortable either sitting up in your chair or mildly reclined- it is up to you. This part of the session is recorded (only my voice! Not yours). It entails some breathing and focus exercises and a gentle guided introduction to a trance state. This is different for everybody. Most people feel a deep sense of relaxation, comfort, or a deep meditative state. Others may feel more alert. There is no right or wrong way. You are not under my "control" and are able to come out of trance at any time. You may be asked to speak during the session, and indeed can speak to me at any time if you feel the need.

The Hypnosis may last for approximately 20-25 minutes. Once we are done, we have a brief feedback of your experience and close the session. You may feel a bit sleepy or hazey immediately after the trance, but this should pass quickly and you will feel back to normal in no time.

After the session, the recording will be sent to your email. It is a requirement for Hypnosis to be effective to listen to the recording regularly. I recommend setting aside a comfortable place and time every day where you wont be disturbed for 30 minutes to dedicate to the process. This is great mindfulness practice also. We may establish some other recommended homework activities during the consultation that you can implement in between sessions.

Ultimately, what you put in, you get out. Your success depends on your commitment!

Follow Up Sessions

Follow up sessions are shorter, as we have already established a management plan and identified core issues in our initial consultation. We will discuss how you went with the recordings, identify any new or revealed items for target, and commence with the next Hypnosis. This will also be 20-25 minutes and recorded for you to listen to at home.

It is important to know that some people feel better immediately after one session. While this is great news, for the content to truly embed, time and repetition is required. So follow up sessions are essential to create lasting change.

Generally 4-6 sessions will provide a good foundation for change, providing the homework is completed!
